Blemil plus IRC

The breast milk is the ideal food for the infant during the first months of life as it provides all the nutrients and immune agents it needs for its proper development.

In the event that this is not possible or is insufficient, starter milks are an optimal alternative for infant feeding from the first day. Consult with your pediatrician to indicate the type of milk most suitable for your baby.

Laboratorios Ordesa has a wide range of infant and special milks that cover the different needs of the infant.

Average Analysis

Features

Adequate energy and protein intake.

  • Energy: 102 kcal/100 ml: 7% protein, 45.2% fat, and 47.8% carbohydrates. The increase in energy density has been achieved from the fat fraction while keeping the contribution of the protein fraction controlled.
  • Protein: 1.8g/100 ml (1.8g/100 kcal, 7% of the total caloric value), to achieve a positive energy-protein balance that helps maintain/improve the nutritional status for optimal growth.

Adequate fat intake.

5.1g/100 ml, 45.2% of the total caloric value. Increasing the non-protein calorie intake per gram of nitrogen achieves a positive nitrogen balance without increasing the rate of renal deterioration.

  • With 22% polyunsaturated fat and 41% monounsaturated fat, which is of interest as patients with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) may present hyperlipidemia or alterations in lipoproteins, and hypercholesterolemia has been shown as an independent risk factor in renal progression. In this sense, monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) appear to decrease lipoperoxidation.
  • With omega-3 (DHA) and omega-6 (AA) PUFA-CL, due to their influence on the metabolic pathways of prostaglandins and eicosanoids with effects on endothelial, platelet, inflammatory cell, and immune system functions, and of special relevance in the development and maturation of brain structures, mainly during the first year of life. The reduction in the inflammatory response may slow down the rate of renal function deterioration.

Optimal combination of carbohydrates.

12.1g/100 ml with a 55% lactose/45% dextrin-maltose combination. Optimal combination in cases of CRI, where insulin resistance may occur, hence the recommendation for the use of complex carbohydrates.

Controlled potassium (35 mg/100 ml) and phosphorus (25 mg/100 ml) intake

To minimize the occurrence of hyperkalemia and hyperphosphatemia, as the excretion capacity of these compounds is reduced. To maintain a normal range of these compound levels, intake must be controlled, although the restriction cannot be too severe.

Adjusted amounts of vitamins and minerals.

Elevated levels of vitamin D (due to reduced synthesis of calcitriol), folic acid (due to the risk of increased homocysteine in patients with a high degree of atherogenicity), iron (to reduce the risk of anemia), vitamins A, C, B1, B6, B12, E (due to their role in lipoperoxidation), and other antioxidant compounds such as selenium.

Additionally, it contains taurine, carnitine, choline, and inositol.

Low renal load (113 mOsm/l) and osmolarity (295.3 mOsm/l).

Instructions

Blemil plus IRC is a complete normoprotein and normocaloric formula for the dietary treatment of infants and children with chronic renal insufficiency, with or without dialysis, and other renal disorders, both in stages 3 and, as a preventive measure, in the earlier stages 1 and 2.

Blemil plus IRC is a food for special medical purposes and should be used under medical supervision.

Due to its special composition, Blemil plus IRC can be used from the first day as the sole source of nutrition, from the sixth month as a complement to a progressively diversified diet, and in preschoolers, school-age children, and young children as a dietary supplement.
